Cardel Walk a Mile in Her Shoes

The second annual event took place on Sept. 24 on Stephen Ave. Walk. Approximately 200 brave men walked in “her” shoes and raised $150,000 – far exceeding the $118,000 raised in 2006.

Cardel Homes – A Builder with Heart
Cardel Homes doesn’t just build homes – they build communities. We are extremely grateful for their ongoing support in many different areas. Raising $150,000 for the YWCA Cardel Crisis Housing Fund from the recent Cardel Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is an example of the support that is so critical in helping our clients move from dependence to independence.

The YWCA Cardel Crisis Housing Fund will support women and their children to successfully transition into permanent, stable and supported housing after leaving YWCA’s emergency shelter or crisis transitional housing.

There are also a number of women who are facing evictions because they have to make a choice between rent and food or rent and utilities. The Fund will assist these women who find themselves at risk of losing their home. The Fund can also be accessed when women and children are “turned away” because there are no shelter beds available in the city and their safety is at risk.

Thank you Cardel for making a difference in the lives of so many women and their children.
